What is the most scenic route on the Glacier Express? ›

A: Every moment on the Glacier Express is special, but the route from Andermatt to Disentis truly stands out. This is where you'll cross the Oberalp Pass, offering a panorama of snow-laden vistas in winter and awe-inspiring mountains in summer. This is a must-see part of the journey!

How many stops does the Glacier Express have and can you hop on and off? You can board the Glacier Express at either end. There are stops en route at Brig, Andermatt, Disentis, Chur, Tiefencastel, Filisur and Samedan, and you can hop off or on at any of them.

Preda & Bergün

Regarded as one of the most spectacular sections of the Glacier Express, the route between Preda and Bergün includes six towering viaducts, giving you an amazing view as you chug along.

Food and drink on the Glacier Express

In Excellence Class passengers are treated to a complimentary five-course regional menu with wine, along with complimentary coffee, juice, snacks and champagne. Meals are available to book in advance, but there is no need as they are the same price on the day.

Are there toilets on the Glacier Express? ›

There is a wheelchair compartment and a toilet suitable for use by disabled persons in the 1st class section of every Glacier Express train.

Tickets you can always get at the station, but for the Glacier Express you also need a reservation, and those sell out. You need to at least make the reservation (and pay for it) well in advance.
