Our brains are exhausted - but still curious - the first day of summer! Forget cleaning our classrooms and boxing up materials, the New Lebanon Bobcats are in IB Category 2 training - Learning & Teaching for Conceptual Understanding. What a dedicated group of professionals!

A perfect time for mid-year reflection! The teachers at New Lebanon revisited our School Improvement Plan to validate their good work this year and surface things that got lost among competing priorities. We are working to exceed all our goals for the year and ensure every child achieves success.

I am so proud of my colleague, classmate, and friend Dr. Anju J. Rupchandani for being recognized as a 2023 Power Player in Education! Anju's commitment to collaboration between public schools and community organizations fuels the amazing work Zone 126 does to re-engage adolescents in school. This is a distinction so well-deserved. ❤️

My heart is full! I got to Zoom today with Habiba Sayma who I taught in 4th grade and is now completing her thesis at Barnard College. I am so proud of all she has accomplished and the endless opportunities in front of her. I held it together until the very end - when she showed me a postcard of the Sistine Chapel tacked to her dorm room wall that I brought back for her from Italy in 2013. This is what education is all about ❤️

What an amazing first day back with my staff at New Lebanon School! We created Journey Lines to share our "why", identified some school-wide focus standards based of the state assessment and backwards-mapped them for reflection, and dug into our new digital platform Dynamic Classroom with a mock lesson in Ms. Flynn's fourth grade classroom.
